手足无措 [shǒu zú wú cuò]
1. have no idea [not to know] what to do with one's hands and feet; at a loss what to do; be bewildered; confused; discomposed; disconcerted; feel completely at a loss; in discomfiture; perplexed手脚无安放处。喻动辄得咎，不知所从。语出《论语·子路》：“刑罚不中，则民无所措手足。”也用以形容临事慌张，不知如何是好。
许地山《女儿心》：“听说一两日间民军便要进城，住在城里的旗人更吓得手足无措。”
